Welcome to my Portfolio

Hi! My name is Noah Spahn, and I am a Computer Engineer that graduated from Boston University. I have an enthusiasm for the world of accessible design and innovative technology. I work on creating products that improve the lives of those who live with visible and invisible disabilities. Before discovering I wanted to build products more than product messaging and pivoting to computer engineering, I studied marketing.

A little more about me...

I have worked as a Full-Stack engineer for the past two years. I love building web applications that are accessible to as many users as possible. Paul Erdos is my favorite mathematician, and I think his approach to enjoying work throughout life is key to living a happy life. My favorite languages to use are HTML/CSS/JS and Python. I also enjoy C++, but I haven't had an opportunity to build as many large-scale applications. Frameworks and tools that I like to use regularly include NodeJS, Bootstrap, SQL, MongoDB, NoSQL/SQL, AWS, Git, Dreamweaver, and VSC.

My undergraduate GPA was a 3.31 and my team won second place in the NASA SPACE APPS Hackathon 2019.

I co-founded an organization known as the Serra Project that focused on building intelligent accessibility technology. We launched a fix kit in 2016 that enabled visually impaired individuals to repair white canes safely and inexpensively.

I love Paul Erdos and this is my favorite quote: "It is not enough to be in the right place at the right time. You should also have an open mind at the right time." - Erdos

Latest Work

Here are some of my most recent projects. Click to get more details about what I built and how it was done!

Mesh Agricultural Sensor Network

Beginning in the Fall of 2020, Our Team set out with the task of building a network capable of cheaply transmitting sensor data in a mesh protocol. We had additional constraints that the Independent Nodes needed to be sustainable without maintenance for longer than 1 calendar year. The system needed to notify the user of broken nodes as well as channel data through redundancy paths. Budgetary constraints enforced that this system was less than $1000 to develop.

Flask Web Stock Analysis Tool

This is a trading App based on python to run backtesting simulations and become a helpful trading tool. This tool is split into three main functions. BackTesting Trade Strategies, Displaying stock data, and set stock price alert. These functions are available through a GUI menu and allow navigation between the processes. The databases used throughout this application involve CSV files for simple local storage. Dependencies used for this program have been built into a requirments.txt file for simple instantiation. APIs used throughout this project include yfinance, backtrader, NewsAPI, flask, and stock-price-alerts.
